Qualifications:

Bachelor in Fine Arts in painting from Kala-Bhavan, Santiniketan, Visva-Bharati University, WB. 1982-1987.

Master in Fine Arts in painting from Kala-Bhavan, Santiniketan, Visva-Bharati University,

W B. 1987-1989.

Advanced Diploma in Stained Glass, Central St. Martin’s College of Art & Design, London. 1993-1994.

Scholarships:

Merit Scholarship from Visva-Bharati University, 1982-1989. India.

Commonwealth Scholarship: Nominated by The Ministry of Human Resources and Development, Department of Education, Government of India, sponsored by the Commonwealth Universities Commission, United Kingdom. 1993-1994.

 

Fellowships:

Junior Research Fellowship in the field of Glass Painting for 1992,1993 and Senior Research Fellowship for 2008 and 2009 from Ministry of Human Resources & Development, Department of Culture, Government of India.

Invited on a Fellowship by Creative Glass Center of America, USA to participate as a Fellow artist from January to April, 2000 (three months) and from January to April, 2004 (three months).

Participated in many group exhibitions,

Made largest installations of outdoor sculptures in glass in India in public places. One is in New Town, Kolkata (Title of the work is ‘GROWTH’) and the other one is in Bolpur, Birbhum (Title of the work is ‘Rabindranath’). Both are commissioned by  HIDCO, Govt. of West Bengal. India.

Directed two feature films and 3 documentary films -

Prithvi (Feature film) in 2006 in Bengali and Telugu (80 minutes).

Film was shown in Kolkata International Film Festival, 2006

Released in Kolkata and Hyderabad in 2006.

Participated in Dhaka International Film Festival, Bangladesh, 2007.

Participated in Kochi International Film Festival, Kerala, 2007.

 

Maati-O-Manush (The Soil and the People), is another feature film Directed and Produced by Sisir Sahana in 2009 in Bengali (104 minutes).

Film was released in 2009 in Kolkata.

Received a Jury Award from The New Hope Film Festival, USA in 2010.

Received Nomination in The Religion Today Film Festival, Italy, 2010.

Shown in Kolkata International Film Festival, Kolkata, 2009.

Shown in Kochi International Film Festival, Kerala, 2010.

Documentary Film: Directed on an artist Surya Prakash titled

Surya Prakash: A journey through Life and Art in 2012. (26 minutes)

Documentary Film:

Directed and produced a documentary film named:

Nandan Mela, Kala-Bhavana and Santiniketan --- a collective spirit. 2013. ( 21 minutes)

Film has been selected for screening at The New Hope International Film Festival, USA.

 

Directed and produced a Documentary film –

Safdariya Girls School – A mission of a Protagonist woman. A school established in Hyderabad, India by Begum Ali Mirza in 1933 (5 minutes). Larger version is in the process.

 

A documentary film on Visva-Bharati is jointly being made by Visva-Bharati and myself. Script is written me and film is being directed by me. Film will soon be ready to watch.

 

Teaching experience:

1989 to 1994: The Hyderabad Public School, Hyderabad, Telangana.

1991-92: Visiting Lecturer, College of Fine Arts, JNTU, Hyderabad.
